unseen force whips last
biscuit coloured leaf away –
empty wrappers burn

squirrels bury nuts –
long shadows cast a dark
cane for my hand

cyan cold dawn spreads –
cows swap visible bellows
after early shifts

lofty canopy
ejects emptied needles –
dim lifeless graveyard

A countryside drive
at one with nature –
damn, I’ve hit a big tour bus

tightness fills the air
lightening strikes downward soon –
butterfly under leaves

Silent ripples
mimic deep undercurrent –
fish swim still

dark granite basin –
still water captures the moon
a lone white pebble

quickly fill my mind –
oh joyous spoon of sunshine
cloud that harshness out

faint trail under trees –
furious fecund fungus
so pick carefully
